The city council will take up a proposal Monday calling for firefighters and retired police officers to be able to use the city’s public safety complex gym.
According to the resolution, only current Hartford police officers are allowed to use the gym.
There’s been other questions raised about fairness in connection with public safety gym, most recently when the city’s chief auditor sent an e-mail to the police chief asking him to revoke Jared Kupiec’s public safety access card. The auditor said Kupiec’s gym access was an issue because other city employees did not have the privilege.
Kupiec was Mayor Pedro Segarra’s chief of staff. He resigned in June.
