Earl O’Garro Jr. spoke to NBC Connecticut Reporter George Colli this week. He didn’t say what happened to the $670,000 he was supposed to pay two insurance carriers for the city, but when asked why he reached out to city treasurer Adam Cloud directly, he replied: “I had a relationship where I felt I could at least make contact and let them know” about a late payment.
Questions have been raised about O’Garro’s relationship with Cloud and if there was a conflict of interest.
Discussing his troubles, O’Garro also said: “When you do business in a city like this and you do it well, this is what happens.” He was referring to the city of Hartford.
