A little music tip

by Categorized: Uncategorized Date:

Amazon has added something called Auto Rip, which not only dumps mp3s into your version of their Cloud Player as you buy CDs, but also roots around in your old Amazon purchases and dumps eligible cuts in too.

I activated it yesterday. It only gave me 133 tracks, but even so …

And one of the nice things is that some of the cuts I got were from CD presents to other people. So I just made a playlist with a lot of Frank Ocean (present to my son’s girlfriend) and Melody Gardot and Gretchen Parlato (also presents).

Personal downside:  I must have given my son the CD  “Iowa”  by Slipknot at some point. Sheesh.

In 3 years the competition will be for lossless audio and these popular cloud players will be in your car dashboard and TV and new stereo receivers effectively replacing Sirius with streaming Net hi-fidelity FLAC subsciption radio. I’m thinking the nursing home won’t be so bad after all, not with all the new electronic media to consume between drooling fits.

    Digital Libraries: The new Hotness.

Concepts like this are so far off the map of Malloy Democrats and 21st Century Progressives that I sinply puke.

When A Democrat puts ideas like this ahead of gay marriage and abortion expansion than we may have some hope of catching up to the New South. Until then: Let’s rebuild Rome! Let’s revisit Gomorrah! Let’s pretend CT Progressive are anything but sexual libertines!
