Much of America has already seen this. Even I think Michelle Obama is a little overexposed right now (although where were her critics when Laura Bush appeared on the Oscars? Or Ronald Reagan?) But she’s also very funny in this. Back in 2008, this hospital executive was considered somewhat brittle and awkward, at least when it came to delivering something resembling a political message. Got a lot of Michael Sheehan coaching, I hear.
What she has always been good at is anything fun and physical. Recall the push-up contest with Ellen. So she’s the First Lady of Fun. We could all use a little. I am posting this mainly to keep Todd the Obsessed Commenter busy all day.

Colin, why are you short-changing the first lady’s job as a $317K per year hospital executive? It was such an important position that when she left…they never replaced her… ala all of those boards that Mrs. Dodd used to serve on while her hubby was our senior senator…I wonder aloud if Mrs. Dodd is still on any of the six boards. Call me cynical, I suspect, she’s too busy in Hollyweird with her husband.

Todd, more than once you’ve objected when I’ve apparently ascribed certain thoughts or emotions to you, based on your comments. But you often say things like “all liberals…” or “leftist[s] adore…” Just sayin’.

Michelle handled the FLOTUS position well. Too well. We simply won’t get the spectacle of a SNL cold opening with the President announcing “The National Crisis is over. The First Lady was captured and is at this moment in the White House basement under lock and key. For her own safety and that of the Nation. God bless”.
Michelle Obama has good will, skill, ideas, verve, harmony. She gets it. Let’s clone her & send her for several months to the Congressional House, which needs that kind of spirit. Maybe to the Senate too.
