Your movie reference made me realize that Romney reminds me a little bit of Otter in “Animal House” when he defends lying about how Flounder’s brother’s car got wrecked.
Flounder: “Will that work?”
Otter: “Hey, it’s gotta work better than the truth.”
I would not be surprised at all if Romney or his campaign suggests that Diamond is misinterpreting his own writing.
I still see “Boon” (Peter Reigert) sometimes up in Great Barrington. He’s still friends with “Katy” (Karen Allen) who lives there.
Mitt’s explanation was as complex as needed to get a point across. Mitt was not listening to the Palestinian mantra that economic disparity is the result of Israeli Oppression. That line of argument was taken off the table in a direct and effective manner as Mitt restated his support for bombing Iran.
THe Obama administration continues arming both sides of the conflict while the President’s opinions evolve.
Diamond’s explanation was equally obtuse largely missing the point: Palestine can disarm and return to previously negotiated borders and work for peace and prosperity between the two countries and solicit foreign aid to address disparities. If Palestine refuses to disarm and return to borders then what? That’s a geographic problem? Or a cultural problem?
Yesterday we got “scissored.” Today we get a spanking.
As an old guy, I kind of like this trend. But, I’m increasingly confident that this November it will be the Dems and their Hopey/Changey Strong Man who will be the recipients of our vocal dissatisfaction.
