My Notebook: Tuesday’s Election

Here are some of the CT races I’m watching on Tuesday, but I’m sure i’m missing a few. There isn’t one good central source. What’s going on in your town?

$tamford: M-Fed v. David Martin. Two other fringe candidates. Lots of money being spent.

New Britain: Stewart Trek: The Next Generation: Erin Stewart, 26, against O’Brien in kind of an Inigo Montoya move.

Vernon: I get no kick from Champagne. Republican mayoral candidate is an ex-cop named Dan Champagne. Open seat.

Bristol : I get no kick from Cockayne. Ken Cockayne vs. Chris Wilson. Art Ward leaving.

In District 3 of Bristol, Hardest to pronounce race in state: Derek Czenczelewski vs Ellen Zoppo-Sassu

Tacopalooza. East Haven: Might be the only real “what kind of place do you want this to be?” race in the state — at least in the sense that no matter which side you’re on, you probably see it as good vs. evil. Thor and Loki have been seen hovering in the sky.

Torrington: Up In the Air? That’s kind of a complicated movie reference. Things are kind of a mess. Ryan Bingham left early. They have an interim mayor from the council. That guy is not running, so they’ll have had three mayors in a very short span no matter who wins. Republican Elinor Carbone is on the council. Democrat George Craig thinks Torrington should be a lot more like Great Barrington. Two other fringe candidates.

Also possible competitive races in Norwalk, Southbury, Branford, Cromwell, Southbury, Westport and Guilford.  I don’t know anything about them.
