Poor Hartford
This is about two blocks from the scene of the Davidson/McLaurin execution-style murders. It’s a also quite near the place where Nick Carbone was beaten nearly to death. The Hartford police did absolutely nothing about either one of those heinous crimes. Ask yourself if there’s another city where a person of Carbone’s stature could be beaten to a point where his life hung in the balance and the subsequent, lingering damage would be permanent…and the police would arrest nobody. Maybe the Twain House, which was scrambling Monday toward a promotional coup, can put the heat on Rovella and Segarra. Because the problems are moving toward them, not away.

The City just needs higher taxes and more state and federal grants. Right?
Makes me long for the good old days of corporal punishment.
Sister Agnita wouldn’t put up with this crap. Not with the duct tape handy. The nuns wouldn’t rely on Pedro or the Parents to solve this either. Those kids would be too terrified of that 4′ 10″ monster and a pair of scissors.
To be fair I knew a few neighborhood bullies in the good old suburbs and those types of dustups were not uncommon. When one of two others tried to move in and take a cheap shot others pulled them off or blocked them. Looks like normal kids to me
Richard says: ”When one of (sic) two others tried to move in and take a cheap shot others pulled them off or blocked them.” —- In those days kids weren’t armed as they are today.
The Hartford highschool demographic is more similar to Central America than Middle America, so we should be comparing our educational achievement and violence to Guatemala or Mexico, rather than Indiana. In which case we are probobly about average. Sanctuary City – how is that working out for us?
I saw an accident today on Farmington ave at the taco bell. I timed the police response time. It took them an hour to get here. I live here and have called the police before and waited for them to show up and once I just stopped waiting cause they took so long. So I dont know if they even showed up. I want to know if there is a watch group or anywhere we the public can go to get info or report stuff like this. Its getting ridiculous.
I just dont get how it takes an hour. I could have taken the bus to the station faster then they got here.
The HPD must all be racists…I blame George Bush!
I’ve been involved with the cops in a similar instance, one gratefully not so disgustingly barbaric and vicious. Suffice to say that the cops were responsive, but did nothing but shoo the drunken coeducational rioters off into the night. Long story short, I ended up barefoot and handcuffed. The cops explained that they can’t arrest everyone, and that they were bleeping tired after dealing with chaos all Saturday night. The fighting resumed after the cops departed. Got to admit, the two formally-dressed, heavy-set gals going at it hammer and tong provided some compensatory amusement.
Still, the fact remains that the cops aren’t responsible for the anti-culture regnant in our Nutmeg Capital. Nor can they do much about it. Love makes a family, we’re told. What does the absence of families over many generations make?
Strong people fight to overcome obstacles. How many of us had relatives who came to this country with nothing and died a homeowner surrounded by loving children? If your family came from Puerto Rico, Jamaica, wherever education and hard work still means something.
Finally; a program.
Not to worry. The “problems” are firmly established in town, and won’t move to white liberal precincts. They’re zoned out, and our guys insist on subsidizing their housing.

HARTFORD ——
Twenty-eight children — many from Hartford — have completed a special nonviolence training program at Weaver High School’s Culinary Arts Academy geared toward changing the way kids respond to conflict.
All but three of the program’s 31 participants received certificates and were certified as nonviolence trainers, coordinators said. The children had to take verbal and written tests and share examples of how violence has touched their lives.
My grandparents would drive down Windsor Street from Windsor to downtown Hartford and always told me to lock the doors. This was in the early 1970′s so appears nothing has changed.
It will be interesting to see what happens in Hartford and other inner-cities when Obama loses in November. If “citizens” burn, loot, and destroy cities when their sports teams win or lose championships-imagine the violence that is going occur when the first half black president loses.
