We’re doing a show on remixes tomorrow, and, while prepping, I discovered this remarkable artist from Perth.

One Response to The beautiful, hypnotic and utterly addictive world of Pogomix

  1. Richard says:

Mix tapes are nothing new. Where’s the boundary between a simple homage and creativity? When sampling in Rap became a new song? TS Eliot’s prescient chicken and egg notes that suggest hypertext notations and non-linear creative thought in The WasteLand? Elizabeth Bishop travelogues based on notes taken during travel? Laurie Anderson’s use of everything including the kitchen sink (pun intended) from her travels and sampled into her Synclavier for Mr Heartbreak? Mosaic or collage re-assembling in graphic arts and music? The Beatles and Musique Concrete and its influence on “A Day in the Life” and Lennon’s experimental stuff? The newpaper cutouts of John Forbes Nash in “A Beautiful Mind” to create an alternate reality from common events experienced uniquely?
