A day or so ago HSO Conductor Carolyn Kuan found herself jamming mittens and sweaters into a bag and jetting off to Brazil, where a fellow conductor had gone down with a wrist injury.

Also in Kuan’s bag was her score of the Rite of Spring, which she’ll conduct in Sao Paolo. She conducted  it here on the 100th anniversary of the piece, in May. You can hear a full conversation with her (and others) about the Rite at this link.

Kuan will sub for Alsop at two gigs.

Alas, the “about the Rite at this link” link is linked to the “a fellow conductor had gone down with a wrist injury” article.
