It’s been five weeks since Property Line checked in on the construction of the movie theater at Hartford’s Front Street development.

Here’s a peek at the progress:

Construction of the movie theater, to be operated by Spotlight Theatres of Atlanta, began in late March. Do you think the movie theater will be finished for a planned late summer opening?

Smart money says it’ll never open, honey.

Its the typical negativity of Greater Hartford’s residents. We would never, God forbid, have a positive outlook or one good thing to say. Lord knows we have a lot of negative experience in our background, but for the love of God, can anyone in this city actually love it? We live and/or work here. It can’t support us if we don’t support it. Can’t wait til the theater opens and will gladly pay more to go there vs the suburban theaters, just as I support downtown Hartford theaters and restaurants with easy parking and safe clean streets.

Speak for yourself, Rob! Most people I know here not only love it but feel very positively about it, despite its flaws and troubles.
Though I believe the current opening date is tentatively schedule for fall, not summer, I’m still seeing this as nothing but positive for the city. Looking forward to going to a movie here in our own hood and keeping our $ downtown!
