Former Hartford Mayor Eddie Perez’s House Has New Owners
Former Hartford Mayor Eddie A. Perez’s house in the city’s West End has sold after being on the market for more than a year.
The five-bedroom house at 59 Bloomfield Ave. was sold for $287,500, according to city records, well below the listing price of $350,000. The house was purchased by buyers from New Britain, records show.

The house was at the center of Perez’s corruption trial in 2010. Perez was accused of lying to investigators about paying for renovations at the house done by a contractor who also was doing work for the city.
More photos of the house can be seen here.
Perez was found guilty on five of the six charges against him and resigned in June, 2010. He was sentenced to three years in prison and three years of probation. Perez immediately announced he would appeal.
My colleague Jenna Carlesso reports:
In January, Perez’s defense team filed its brief laying out the grounds for the appeal. The state’s brief outlining why the conviction should stand is due June 22. A hearing will then be scheduled. The process could take several months, depending on extensions that could be granted.
Perez is free pending the appeal.

I hear the house may have come with a little “bonus”. Tens, twenties, some hundreds. Start looking in the basement in the access panel to the….
Curious as to where Perez currently resides and his occupation, if any.
This article is deceiving and inaccurate. For one thing, the house wasn’t listed when it sold. For another, the asking price of $350,000 was back in April 2011. The asking price was $300,000 in September. The information is twisted by the reporter to sound like something it isn’t. People are going to think that you can walk into a $350,000 house and pay $287,000.
