A reader who lives in The Hollander in downtown Hartford took exception today to the photo of Asylum Street building that appeared in print editions of The Courant.

The photo accompanied a story, initially published on Property Line Monday, about the first commercial lease in the building since a top-to-bottom renovation was completed in 2009. The photo was shot in 2005 and was the most recent, overall photo of the building in The Courant’s archives.

“Considering that a $26-million rehab was done to make it a green building, why would you include a photo with air conditioners out windows and an ugly awing that isn’t even there any more?” Marge Rode wrote in an e-mail to me this morning.

Rode adds: “I have an apartment facing the park. In a pic, it looks like I have an air conditioner handing out of my window. In reality, there is wonderful central air and UV blocking window screens.”

I agree with Ms. Rode. In case you didn’t see the photo in today’s paper, here it is:

What do you think of the differences in the streetscape?
