What’s with the red paint on the walls outside the former Tapas On Ann in downtown Hartford?

Word is a new restaurant is on the way for the space, at the corner of Asylum and Ann Uccello streets. If the new operator was looking to quietly prepare the space, the red paint isn’t helping.

Several attempts to reach the new operator since late last week have been unsuccessful. Messages have been left with people working in the space.

Tapas closed the location earlier this year, about the same time The Asylum Cafe next door also closed. It was a blow to a block that also includes the long-shuttered Goodwin Hotel.
