The movie theater at downtown Hartford’s Front Street entertainment district will open Nov. 16, the venue’s operator told me today.

The operator, Spotlight Theatres, Inc., is putting the final touches on the four-screen theater complex that will combine movies, restaurant and bar. Spotlight plans a combination of independent, art and “crossover” mainstream films.

General Manager Steve Menschell said screens, carpeting, projectors and seats are now installed.

No word yet on what films will be on the marquee when the theater opens.

On second thought, this theater may compliment the “dinner and a movie” date night modus operandi.

Thanks to Justin for the tour and walk through last week. It’s a very promising space and the design is very chic and modern. We at City Steam are happy to offer an “Eat Here, Watch There” promotion with Spotlight Theater. Details will be available when the theater opens!!

    • Sarah K says:

So very glad to hear that! Love that we will have a cinema downtown. Much more likely to see movies now. A promotion with City Steam is a win/win for both businesses.

What about hiring? have not heard anything about taking applications! Will there be jobs available for our youth here in the city? We will see!

    • MARGE says:

they did post for jobs, I got one

    • LMHtfd says:

If you know anyone who might be interested in a job there you should tell them to drop by. In the pictures accompanying the earler announcement of the theater’s design and offerings there was a “Help Wanted”-type sign on the doorway. That was a few weeks ago so there may still be time.

  7. Darlene says:

There is a parking garage across the street. Don’t the cost
