For months, I have been peeping into open doors around the planned movie theater at Front Street, snapping photos to keep track of the progress.
This week, I was given a tour by the general manager, Steve Menschell, whose father managed movie theaters in downtown Hartford in the 1950s and later, suburban venues such as the Manchester Drive-In and the Vernon Cine.
Construction at Front Street is nearing completion: the seats — chosen in an informal poll in the city last summer — are expected to go in the first week of October. Opening is expected by early November.
Read more here and take a look at interior photos of the venue here.

This looks like a great addition to downtown. I hope it’s successful! However, what ever happened to the announcement for Front Street’s 2nd tenant? Wasn’t it supposed to be announced in August?
