There’s a state-sponsored job fair Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Danbury with more than 50 employers, including United Technologies Corp.’s aerospace systems division, hiring engineers.
Does that mean UTC is expanding its former Goodrich plant in Danbury? The company hasn’t announced its plans for the former Goodrich facilities, which are now in the same division that as Hamilton Sundstrand.
The event at the Ethan Allen Hotel, at 21 Lake Street Extension, just off I-84 exit 4, will include a very wide range of jobs including truck drivers, customer service, medical, engineering, retail and IT, among many others. Financial firms are heavily represented, a possible sign of a rebound in that sector.
It’s a nonprofit event co-sponsored by the Connecticut Department of Labor, Cumulus Media, the Danbury Chamber of Commerce and the City of Danbury. Workshops sponsored by Ridley-Lowell Business & Technical Institute of Poughkeepsie, NY, will also be held.
As for UTC, the company has not said whether the jobs are part of an expansion, but its divisions are constantly hiring engineers and scientific personnel. Other companies participating include FedEx Ground, BMW of Ridgefield, Seitz LLC, Aldi Food Market and numerous banks and financial firms.
