Warde Manuel – Show Him the Money
It’s not Jim Calhoun money, but UConn’s new athletic director, Warde Manuel, will pull down $450,000 a year plus assorted bonus and deferred compensation opportunities, according to a report by the Courant’s Desmond Conner.
So how does that compare nationally? Two of USA Today’s sports-data gurus, Steve Berkowitz and Jodi Upton, have assembled an impressive database of compensation figures for more than 100 athletic directors across the country.
Short answer on Manuel’s money: Way more than some; way less than others, including Vanderbilt’s $2.5 million man, David Williams.
