MetroHartford Alliance CEO, Oz Griebel, will be taking his job above and beyond in a few weeks when he officiates at the wedding of one of his co-workers.
Griebel will be the guy who makes it official, kind of, at the wedding of HYPE executive director Julie Daly and HYPE Core Committee member Sean Meehan on Sept. 14 at the Bushnell’s Autorino Hall.
HYPE (Hartford Young Professionals and Entrepreneurs) is the MetroHartford Alliance young professionals organization.
The couple will actually be married first that day in a very small church service with only a few close relatives, according to Daly, but both also wanted a bigger ceremony in front of all 200 guests.
“We were at a Rising Star breakfast and looked at Oz who was speaking and said, ‘that’s it. We should have Oz be the one to conduct the ceremony,’” said Daly, who met Meehan through HYPE.
The wedding will have hints of Hartford, of course. The invitations feature a pen and ink drawing of Bushnell Park. In lieu of favors, the couple is having a Bushnell Park bench refurbished. A plaque, with their names, wedding date and the inscription “Boy Gets Girl,” will be installed on the actual wedding day.
The reception will be at Hartford’s Society Room.
