BGR: The Burger Joint Closed
Another burger joint has apparently bit the dust.
Without any fanfare, BGR: The Burger Joint at 983 Farmington Avenue in West Hartford has apparently quietly closed.
The place was one of a glut of burger places opening up in the Hartford/West Hartford areas over the past couple of years. http://bit.ly/rSvkK0
BGR: The Burger Joint, opened less than a year ago, touting a menu that included classic burgers made from “prime, dry-aged, all natural, hormone free, grain-fed” beef.
The phone at the restaurant has been disconnected.

Surprise! Seriously, did anyone *not* see that one coming? I’ve never seen more then 4-5 customers in that place at a time since a week or two after it opened. Good burgers, bad location.
Place was good when it started but it surprisingly went downhill quickly. Soon after they opened, roasted garlic fries no longer had roasted garlic and staff argued that light garlic powder was the same. Burgers well cooked after first, then twice in a row medium rare burgers were charred on outside and rare on inside. Attention to detail killed them.
glad i wasn’t an investor!
You can only charge so much for what in the end is only a burger. I expect more burger places to close.
The center is a joke. i grew up around here and rarely do any business there. Only places i go are subway and cheesecake.
If the center is such a joke why do you find it necessary to support two of the many businesses? Certainly, you can’t be visiting Cheese Factory because of the great prices and Subway’s over priced sandwiches which consist of more bread than cold cuts or vegetables.
There are plenty of WH residents that do support their local merchants and wish them all success. Your slanted opinion of the center reminds me of the people in Berlin, that do not support their local merchants at all. They would drive 5 miles out of town rather than support their local merchants. Kind of twisted if you ask me.
They initially had burgers that were fantastic, but after having a half dozen of their full price burgers and then going in at lunch time for their “special” price, I noticed the quality of this particular burger had gone way down and the meat was not the same. I never went back there. It’s better to not have the “special” price with the inferior burger, rather, keep with the consistent quality and meat. Counter Burger at Blue Back has consistent quality to their burger.
Burger Joint’s quality was inconsistent and they began to cut corners almost from the start. They started big and went downhill from there. Their competition in WH center was fierce and WH is oversaturated with burger options. It’s time for a new cuisine to be introduced to the Center. Future restauranteurs be forwarned about the Center. Been there, done that!
Well. West Hartford we loved being there. We enjoyed the many friendships , birthdays and family reunions that came in to enjoy BGR and share it with friends . Unfortunately , and as sometimes it goes in business , the numbers simply didn’t work for us, this time , at this specific location. You’re a great community and any artisanal restaurant like us , should be honored to have the pleasure of your town’s loyalty and friendship. We will miss you and …We’ll be back!

People dont come into the “Center” just to get a burger. Its mostly fine dining, and if you decide on a burger instead, EVERY restaurant already offers one!..Ya got plenty of specialty burger joints on the fringes already, ie: Jake’s Wayback, Mooyah, Five Guys, etc, etc, etc….This was the fastest dining failure I can remember in West Hartford, even Cocoa’s across the street made it nearly 2 yrs..
