And so it was at Friday’s Camp Courant “Buddy Bash,” an evening that was made even more fun because guests were invited to dress up to reflect the fundraiser’s “Super Hero” theme.
As such, the guest list included The Shadow (John Cassidy,) Wonder Woman, (Erin Concepcion) Superman (Julio Concepcion) and The Green Hornet (Sean Meehan.) Throw in a few Batmen, Black Widows and Spidermen and one very suave “Bond, James Bond (Charlie Lenore) and it turned into a party with superhuman powers, the kind of extraordinary powers that have kept one of the nation’s oldest non-profit summer camps in business for nearly 120 years.
The bash at the campgrounds in Farmington , chaired by HYPE’s Julie Daly Meehan (Kato) and Sullivan & LeShane’s Gene Sheehan(Clark Kent) not only included a dine-around with food from some of the area’s most popular restaurants, but also some awards for those who have been really “buddies” to the camp. Honored this year were Fox Ct news director Coleen Marren and Bank of America vice president Dean Andrews.
The evening marked the first “Buddy Bash” for new camp director Josh Reese, who ditched the costume idea and fantasy hero worship, arriving instead in a suit and fresh haircut.
“I have to give a speech so thought these clothes were better,” he said about his business attire. “But as far as my favorite super hero, I would have to say it was Batman. He was just a real guy.”
