Celeb Chef Noel Jones Leaves On20
Celebrity chef, Noel Jones, a Connecticut cooking vanguard often credited with bringing haute cuisine to Hartford, has stepped down as executive chef at Hartford’s tony On20 restaurant.
The culinary award-winning Jones, who has been internationally lauded for his creativity, vision and expertise in the kitchen, left about two weeks ago according to reports.
Jones is no longer listed as executive chef at the restaurant which is located on the 20th floor of the Hartford Steam Boiler Building on State Street in downtown Hartford. A recording at the restaurant states the place is closed for its annual summer vacation until Aug. 27. Its website now lists former chef de cuisine, Jeffrey Lizotte, as executive chef.
Besides his reputation as an exemplary chef, Jones has also worked on various fundraisers with many Greater Hartford chefs, including Tyler Anderson of Millwright’s, Billy Grant of the Grant Restaurant Group, Ryan Jones of The Mill at 2t, and Hunter Morton of Max Downtown.
But don’t think Jones, and his talent are leaving the area. It’s a safe bet you will be seeing him in a new kitchen very soon.
“I am working on something that will be exciting and new for me and the people of Connecticut,” said Jones. “I expect to announce it soon.”

Just for clarification …. The restaurant is usually closed for two weeks to allow employees a summer vacation. This year it is closed from Aug. 10 through 26, as announced on July 12.
How old is this news?
I was there for dinner 7/27/12, met Lizotte (he came to our table) and told us he’d been the executive chef for a year.
Wow. That’s terrible news. On20 is one of the finest restaurants on the Eastern seaboard, bar none. Every meal there was a memorable event. We ate there at the end of May and did not notice any difference. I sure hope that Chef Lizotte can maintain the same type of menu and we’re really excited about seeing where Chef Jones lands!
