While everyone flusters about $47,500 in state money used for the soon-after closed Thirty5 Bar & Grille on West Hartford’s LaSalle Road, there is more news about the space.
A French bistro will soon open there, courtesy of a familiar West Hartford restaurateur.
Dorjan Puka, who, with his wife, owns the popular Treva Restaurant & Bar on Farmington Avenue, plan to open the French-inspired restaurant at 35 LaSalle Road in the next few months.
“We are hoping to have it open in three months,” said Puka. “We aren’t sure of the name yet but it will be an authentic French brasserie. ”
Puka said he and his wife just returned from a two-week trip to France.
“We can’t wait to do this,” he said. “West Hartford has Italian and Mexican and Asian cuisine restaurants but no French ,” he said. “People think French food is all heavy and expensive but it is not that way. That is why we will be doing “bistro” style food. Basic good food, simple, affordable but so wonderful.”
