Gibson Coming To Quinnipiac
Former “ABC World News” anchor Charles Gibson is coming to Connecticut.
The journalist and newscaster will present a program “The (Im) Balance of Power in Washington: How Things Went Off The Rails and How They Can Be Fixed” at Quinnipiac University on Sept. 20.
The program is free and open to the public.
“I am thrilled to have Charlie Gibson coming to campus for so many reasons,” said Lee Kamlet, dean of the School of Communications. “I was one of Charlie’s producers when he was the congressional correspondent for ABC News. Having worked alongside him, I know how passionately he cares about the Congress as an institution, and how important he believes it is to restore civility to congressional and public discourse.”
Kamlet noted that Gibson’s appearance comes during Constitution Week, adding to Quinnipiac’s celebration of the Constitution. In addition to his speech, the former ABC newsman will spend a full day on campus, meeting with students and faculty.
Gibson received the university’s Fred Friendly First Amendment Award in 2008.
