Get your World Cup/Brazil vibe going by heading over to Real Art Ways Thursday, June 19,  for its monthly Creative Cocktail Hour.

Inspired fun including Deejay Mal will be spinning all night and Ginga Brasileira is bringing some live Samba and Capoeira. All this along with futebol and caipirinha cocktails outdoors, weather permitting. And if you come in your soccer jersey admission is half off. For more information go here.

mar12Nothing like a nice martini to put you in a weekend mood. Foodie and award-winning NPR personality Faith Middleton has just the fix for you on June 19.

The fourth annual Faith Middleton  Food Schmooze Martini Competition will be held at The Riverview in Simsbury beginning at 6 p.m. The event is designed to find the most spectacular martini of the season with a host of CT’s most well-known bartenders and restaurants pouring and shaking into the competition. Among the participating restaurants also providing food for the event are On20, Tisane, Plan B Burger, Burger Baby, Bee & Thistle Inn and Millwright’s.

Golf tournament week in CT continues.

ariannaBlogger/journalist and businesswoman Arianna Huffington and celebrity chef Ming Tsai will serve as featured speakers for the 2014 Women’s Day Breakfast on Thursday, June 19, at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell. The sixth annual Women’s Day, sponsored by Travelers, benefits the charities of the Travelers Championship, including The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, which serves children suffering from serious illnesses.

This year’s event will begin with a networking breakfast at 7 a.m. followed by an interactive cooking demonstration by Tsai and a speech by Huffington on her life and new book,  “Thrive: The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Life of Well Being, Wisdom, and Wonder.” For more information go here.

Head over to the Bushnell on June 20 for Black-eyed Sally’s 15th Annual Blues Fest beginning at 5:30. Sponsored in cooperation with several groups including the Greater Hartford Arts Council, the free event features several blues bands including the Charlie Allen Band.

Friday is “Best Of” day. Hartford Magazine will toast the winners at a party at the Hartford Publicbestof Library featuring the best of awards, music, food and more. Party begins at 7 p.m. Must be 21 or older to attend. For more information go here.  

On Saturday, June 21, Real Art Ways and Family Life Education will celebrate the reopening of George Day Park with a block party on Arbor Street!

A variety of free art and music workshops for kids from 1 to 4 p.m. will be featured as well as live entertainment. For more information go here.

Also on Saturday, bestselling author Jennifer Weiner, whoweiner (2) happens to hail from Simsbury, will be the keynote speaker at the March of Dimes Brunch for Babies fundraiser at Belle Terrace in Avon.
