There was some extra Hartford Twitter action Tuesday, courtesy of one of the masters, Arianna Huffington.

Huffington, president and editor-in-chief of the AOL Huffington Post Media group, one of the most widely read news and blog sites, wasted no time in letting followers know she was in Hartford for the Hartford Public  Library’s “One Big Summer Night” fundraiser at the Connecticut Convention Center.

“I’m posting a couple of pictures, too,” said the very gracious Huffington who said she was impressed by the convention center.

An author and syndicated columnist, Huffington posed with anyone who asked and made the time to chat with those who approached her at the VIP reception held before the dinner.

Despite her success when it comes to social media, Huffington insisted nothing will replace traditional newspapers and the service they provide to the public-at-large.

“Social media is not an objective media,” said Huffington.

More than 600 people attended the event that attracted all kinds of Huffington fans including unsuccessful gubernatorial and U.S. Senate candidate Ned Lamont.

“She was a real help in 2006,” said Lamont, the endorsed Democrat who then unsuccessfully faced off against U.S. Senator Joe Lieberman. “I’m a big fan of hers.”

Lamont, whose work includes teaching a few courses at Central Connecticut State University said he predicts a Republican Linda McMahon vs. Democratic Chris Murphy race for Lieberman’s seat which is up for grabs this fall.

“It will be a Murphy win,” he predicted for the current U.S. Congressman.
