Kentucky Ham/CT Vegetables the Stakes In Tonight’s UConn Game

by Categorized: Uncategorized Tagged: , , , , Date:

hamfruitsGov. Dannel Malloy is certainly not a gambler, except when it comes to tonight’s women’s national college basketball title showdown between UConn and Louisville.  Then, all bets are on.

According to Boston.com, if (I mean when) the UConn  women win,  Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear will be shipping a fine Kentucky ham to the governor. And IF (very unlikely)  Louisville wins over the Huskies tonight in New Orleans, Malloy has promised to send his fellow governor  a basket full of fresh CT fruits, vegetables and candies.

Mustard anyone? Let the game begin!

That ham’s going to be really delicious. That being said, I can’t resist pointing out how peculiar Governor Malloy’s part of the bargain is…

Perhaps as a consolation prize Malloy could send Governor Beshear some nice fresh Shad and Shad roe — more specifically a Connecticut tradition than fruits & veggies. In fact, tobacco and dairy farms lead the state in agriculture; with nursery-grown ornamental plants second, then shellfish. Sadly, produce farming is waaay down on the list of what comes to mind when thinking of an edible gift from our fair state.
