“Reunited and it feels so good” was the first comment “CBS This Morning’’ co-anchor Gayle King made Friday as she arrived at the Hartford Marriott Downtown for the first “Know Your Value” women’s conference there.
King, Oprah’s BFF and known in these parts for her many years at WFSB television, joined gal pals former Connecticut including TV personality “MSNBC Morning Joe’’ co-anchor Mika Brzezinski, WFSB political analyst and PR firm owner Duby McDowell, and former TV and radio personality Diane Smith, for an appearance before a sold-out crowd anxious to absorb some advice from the strong and successful women.
“We should be appreciating instead of depreciating ourselves,” said Brzezinski, who produced the event with McDowell and Smith. Sporting Louboutin heels and her signature J. McLaughlin silk scarf, Brzezinski lamented that when it comes to money, women start self-deprecating.
Asked about the firing of New York Times managing editor, Jill Abramson who challenged her salary there, Brzezinski said she had talked to the ousted newspaper exec.
“It’s a timely matter,” she said. “And there is going to be a lot more to that story.”
