mtavernThere is new life in the offing for the historic Marlborough Tavern that closed a while ago.

And it’s courtesy of two brothers who are well-acquainted with the area.

Scott and Marc DiGalbo are leasing the famous tavern and are in the midst of major renovations they say will not only preserve its integrity but infuse an upscale dining experience into the area.

“The restaurant is being completely renovated into a fine dining establishment that we are calling it  The New Marlborough Tavern,” said Scott who still lives in Marlborough. “We will have an open kitchen so you can watch the chefs cook, a brand new bar that will be bigger and in a new location and we are expanding the front of the building,” he said.

The two brothers both graduated from RHAM High School and have worked together in a local bakery and a restaurant in West Hartford. Marc DiGalbo has many years of executive chef experience at several places including the Marriott in Windsor.

Marc will  oversee the kitchen while Scott will be in charge of the bar and front end.

“We always talked about doing something like this together,” said Scott DiGalbo. “This was an opportunity.”

The restaurant will feature new American cuisine and is scheduled to open in December.

“The town is ready for something more upscale and something nicer,” said Scott DiGalbo about the place that is being billed as “fine dining establishment with an upscale bar and lounge.”  “This will be something more hip, brighter and more cheerful.
