“Shade of Grey” E.L. James coming to CT’s
Was there any doubt the “naughty never felt so good” “Fifty Shades of Grey” would become the #1 trade fiction bestseller hours after hitting book stores earlier this month?
And is there any doubt that R.J. Julia’s Roxanne Coady would be the one to get the naughty novel’s bestselling author, E.L. James to Connecticut, two weeks after books #2 and #3 of the erotic trilogy also hit book stores this week?
That’s the plan. The English author, whose other two “Grey” books, “Fifty Shades Darker” and “Fifty Shades Freed” hit bookstores on Tuesday , will be in Connecticut on May 2 for a girls night out event at the Omni Hotel in New Haven.
This from event sponsor R.J. Julia:
“E. L. James sits down with Roxanne Coady, owner of RJ Julia Booksellers, for a girls night out on Wednesday, May 2. This sexy book, sweeping the nation by force has pushed its way to the top of the bestseller list. Save the date and get a behind-the-scenes look at this tale of misbehaved romance.”
Here are the particulars:
Tickets are $25, which also includes hors d’oeuvres, and a $5 credit towards the purchase of any of the three books in this spicy trilogy. Tickets go on sale Monday, 4/16 and may be purchased online at rjjulia.com, by phone (203) 245-3959, or in the store.
Omni Hotel is located at 155 Temple Street. Reception 6-7PM (There will be a cash bar) Talk and book signing 7 to 9 p.m. Discounted hotel rooms will be available, check the website for details.
RJ Julia Booksellers is located at 768 Boston Post Rd. Madison, CT For more information contact Denise Santisteban, Event Coordinator or Tim Novak, Communications Coordinator at 203-245-3959

Hmm… Never really heard of an author charging to go to an autograph event unless it’s for charity or a fund raiser of some kind. Don’t get me wrong, I love the author and her books but it just seems like it’s exploiting her fans to make more of a buck. This kind of puts a bad taste in my mouth.
The author is not charging, the ticket covers the direct expense to rent the space, as the store can not house the mass number of people attending. They are also providing reception food, to make it a fun evening out.
