Summer’s Last Bash Hartford! Do It!

And while officially we still have another few weeks of my personal favorite season of the year, the reality is it is back to school, a full work schedule and thoughts of falling leaves, cold weather and holiday madness as we get ready to wade back into the mainstream of life.

But not quite yet people. There is still this decadent long weekend ahead. And there are choices!

Lyman lymanoOrchards opens its annual corn maze Saturday and this year it’s a Statue of Liberty design theme. Meander around two miles of pathways on four acres at the farm maze in Middlefield which is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends and 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday though Friday. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for ages 4 to 12 with $1 being donated to the American Cancer Society, Information:

The Fish Family Farm in Bolton will host “Farm Day” on Saturday, an annual festival featuring hay rides, bounce houses, face painting , a farmers market and ice cream from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event benefits the Lutz Children’s Museum. Admission is $6 for museum members and $7 for non-members. Information: 860-6432-0949.

Let the faircow air get you this weekend.  head out to the Haddam Neck Fair ( and the Woodstock Fair, ( both open Friday to Monday and offering a host of activities, entertainment, food and rides for adults and children. Or visit the Goshen Fair, also open from Saturday to Monday and featuring fair events including a pie eating contest, animal judging and tractor pull. Information:
