The New Britain Rocks Cats organization is doing more than playing some good baseball these days.
The team’s veteran president, Bill Dowling, has been named the Connecticut Bar Association’s “Sports Lawyer of the Year.”
Dowling, a former New York chief state’s attorney who has led the baseball club for 12 years, was recognized for his success as the president/CEO of the state’s Eastern League Double-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins.
He was cited by the association for his “exemplary leadership and innovation.”
“I was totally honored, particularly when I got the award when there are so many wonderful sports lawyers around Connecticut,” Dowling said during ceremonies at the park Tuesday. “I am thrilled.”
“Bill is the finest example of how professionalism, generosity and expertise can, and do, work well in the world of sports law,” said the association’s Sports and Entertainment Law section chair, Attorney Don. P.Tutson Jr.
