More female star power is coming Hartford way in May as part of the first “Know Your Value” conference for women on May 16.
Joining the headliners, former CT newscasters-turned-celebrities Gayle King and Mika Brzezinski, will be a threesom you may recognize.
They include Lucy Danziger, well-being life expert and former editor-in-chief of Condé Nast’s SELF magazine, Lisa Hughes, vice president and publisher of The New Yorker and Melody Barnes, CEO of Melody Barnes Solutions LLC, a domestic strategy firm, and former Assistant to the President and Director of the White House Domestic Policy Council.
Conference topics include “Lessons Learned,” “Leaning Back and Leaning In,” “At the Bargaining Table” and “Your Best Self,” addressing stress, health and sleep. The daylong program will be held at the Hartford Marriott Downtown.
The conference is being produced by Brzezinski and two well-known Connecticut media personalities, Duby McDowell, president of McDowell Jewett Communications and Diane Smith, president of Diane Smith Media.

When it comes to on-air and beyond power, CSNBC “Morning Joe” co-anchor Mika Brzezinski and CBS This Morning co-anchor Gayle King are heavyweights.
And the best part is they both have Hartford career roots.
The duo is coming to Hartford in May to share stories, support and success and failures at a new day-long conference expected to attract hundreds of the area’s most interesting and influential women.

Former CT anchor and tv personality, MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-anchor Mika Brzezinski and CT radio and tv personality Diane Smith met more than 18 years ago, developing a friendship that has grown and sustianed over the years.
But recently the friendship was tested beyond most, and the results… a self-awareness epiphany, a renewed commitment to good health and a look at the obesity crisis in America and a bond that most best friends don’t share.

For those who have been in Connecticut for a while, MSNBC’s Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski is still considered “ours” given her strong ties to the state. Brzezinski, who co-hosts the popular morning show with Joe Scarborough, was a popular former local tv anchor, still has a home here and lends her celebrity to local causes. Her fans here have celebrated her success and climb up the ladder.
But her somewhat suggestive September Vanity Fair photo shot, part of a profile package on the show hosts, is still causing some discussion. It has been dubbed “erotic capital,” a commodity that apparently is questionably necessary for female broadcast journalists, according to some. http://bit.ly/O6ZIok
