But you’ll need a plane ticket or a few days to drive to the new one. It’s in Florida.
Rich Rosenthal, president of the Max Group restaurants, is ready to open his newest eatery, The Cooper, in Palm Beach Gardens.
“We have a lot of friends and family from Connecticut coming down for the opening,” said Rosenthal about his new place opening May 17 with a fundraiser for the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation. “We’re putting the finishing touches on everything and we think it has a nice vibe.”
Because the “Max” restaurant name is already being used there, Rosenthal had to ditch it opting for “The Cooper” instead.
“We wish we could have had the name down here,” said Rosenthal who is in Florida helping ready the place. “But the new restaurant has some similarities to some of our Max restaurants, contemporary with tradition and soul, with whimsical and retro photo art,” he said. “It’s done in neutrals, black wood, white wood, it’s nice.”
The farm-to-table menu includes artisanal salumi and cheeses, salads, including Max’s famed “Tuscan Salad,” as well as chicken, burgers, seafood and chop-house classics.
While Rosenthal has hired a staff down there, he is hedging the opening by bringing down some of his Connecticut staff to help including Dave Bouchard from Max Fish and Liz Ackerman from Max-A-Mia.
And to make sure the entertainment is just right for the opening, Rosenthal is also bringing down Max Downtown pianist Brian Clymer.
