usIn yet another analysis of the places we live, our Nutmeg State has not fared too well when it comes to “happy”  vs. “sad.”

A Twitter-based study by the Vermont Complex Systems Center has determined that Connecticut is in a “sad” state, according to a report in The Atlantic.

(Map guide: Dark pink is really happy, light pink pretty happy, blues are varying degrees of sad and gray is neutral.)

According to the study, Connecticut and Rhode Island are terribly sad places in New England while Maine, New Hampshire  and Vermont are happy places to live, based on 10 million tweets and the words used in those comments.

Hawaii (naturally) is considered the “happiest” place to live while the saddest states include Louisiana, Maryland and Mississippi.

One of the saddest cities cited in the report is Connecticut’s own Waterbury.
