CT Women’s Hall of Fame 2013 Inductees Announced

barbaraThe Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame has announced its 2013 inductees.

rosaChosen for their ability to embody women’s education and women’s empowerment are  Rosa DeLauro, U.S. Representative of Connecticut’s 3rd district since 1990,  Barbara Hackman Franklin,  former U.S.Secretary of Commerce and president and CEO of Barbara Franklin Enterprises,  Linda Koch Lorimer, vice president of Yale University and historic inductee Augusta Lewis Troup, union organizer, journalist and promoter of the suffrage movement and advocate for teachers and minority groups.

“Historically, traditional education has been the path to empowerment for women,” said Katherine Wiltshire, executive director of the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame.  “However, today we recognize that education extends well beyond the academic walls into numerous fields where women use creative and innovative ways to help other women advance.  There’s no better way to celebrate the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame’s 20th anniversary than to honor and share the stories of four remarkable women who so beautifully embody our mission to educate and inspire women and girls.  They give us hope and a positive vision for future generations.”

The 20th Annual Induction Ceremony & Celebration which will be held Nov.  6  at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford.
