- They called themselves “Leatherneck and Lace,” the gritty former Marine and well-known radio personality Brad Davis, and his sweeter-than-sweet co-host, Mary Jones. two WDRC personalities who, for nearly two years, shared a mic and a program each morning on the AM side from 9 to 10 a.m..
As of Monday, they are back on their own as part of an amicable programming change.
Jones is moving on to her own three-hour show beginning Monday, Jan. 7, and Davis is taking back his full four-hour daily show at the station that same day.
Buckley Radio station vice president and general manager Eric Fahnoe said Wednesday that “The Mary Jones Show” will be on daily from 3 to 6 p.m.
“The impetus for the move was based on the success of her programs,” said Fahnoe. ” We look forward to many more people being able to enjoy her unique style and her approach to local issues that are of interest to our listeners.
Besides “Leatherneck and Lace,” (apparently renamed “Midday Magazine” a couple of months ago) Jones had hosted her own two-hour “Mary Jones Show” from noon to 2 p.m. each day.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to move into the afternoon drive-time, 3-6 pm slot,” said Jones. “2013 represents the 10th year of The Mary Jones Show so it feels wonderful to be able to acknowledge this milestone with this significant change.”
Jones said she will continue some of her trademark events including ”Girls Night Out” dinners and Inspirational Woman Award program.
With Jones moving to the more coveted afternoon drive time slot, Fahnoe announced other AM programming changes.
“The Dave Ramsey Show” will move from 2 to 5 p.m. to noon to 3 p.m. and a new “Andrea Tantaros Show,” featuring the co-host of the Fox News channel’s program, “The Five,” will air from 10 a.m. to noon.
