WTIC Radio, Right Place, Right Time In LA
Meanwhile, talk about being in the right place at the right time.
A few personalities from WTIC radio trekked off to Los Angeles last week to be part of the two-day media pre-Grammy show dog-and-pony event that involves trotting “celebrities” into the Staples Center for photo and interview opps with a myriad of media types.
And while the WTIC work was officially done on Friday (the station was doing live broadcasts from the center,) they were all still there Saturday when Whitney Houston died at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
“Everywhere you walked all you heard were people talking about her death,” said deejay Gina J, who was in L.A. with fellow deejay Damon Scott and station head honcho Steve Salhany. “The surprising part was by Sunday, it was quiet at the Hilton and all cleared out except for some candles and flowers that were part of a memorial there.”
