Pine Acres Pond Trail Hike

HAMPTON, CT - 5.13.2013 - GOODWIN STATE FOREST HIKE - This is a trientalis borealis, commonly known as a starflower, that I photographed while hiking along the Pine Acres Pond Trail at Goodwin State Forest in Hampton. According to the Connecticut botanical society's website, the "starflower has the unusual feature of being based on sevens: seven leaves, seven petals, and seven sepals".
