A Drying Heat

2013.06.25 – Mansfield, CT – Siblings Tessel Coppola, 3, and Luca van de Mortel, 2, play in the shade of a tree amidst clothes hung out to dry by their grandmother Tiny van de Mortel. Tiny, who is here from Holland for the summer, says, “You can see when we are visting, the laundary is drying.” Tiny’s husband, Theo van de Mortel, says summers in Holland are “more moderate,” and during their visit to Connecticut last year, they experienced “five heat waves in 7-weeks and Holland had one.” For the third day in a row a temperature of 90 degrees or higher has been recorded at Bradley International Airport.
