A Teenage Equestrian Champion

On a very rainy Tuesday, high school junior Emelie Burgess and her horse Emmett got to stay out of the weather. Having already donned the lower half of a yellow vinyl rain suit, I was happy to stay dry after the assistant trainer at Windcrest Farm in Hebron, CT, decided to hold Burgess’ and several other riders’ afternoon workout in an indoor arena instead of out in the rain.

The Courant story goes into more depth on Burgess, who was recently named the best all-around rider at the Interscholastic Equestrian Association’s national championship in Syracuse, N.Y.
