Wounded Afghanistan Veteran Raises Money for Other Vets

Sergeant First Class Micah Welintukonis, of Coventry, was seriously wounded in Afghanistan in July 2012. A year later, Welintukonis is raising money for other wounded veterans.

Welintukonis is on a 60-mile, four-day walk from Willimantic to West Hartford to raise money for several organizations that support veterans, including the Wounded Warrior Project, the V.F.W., and the American Legion. He and his supporters have stopped at several posts along the route. Welintukonis says he plans to donate proceeds to each post, including the West Hartford American Legion which he will end his walk at on Friday.
