A Personal Migration: Mexico City-Hartford-Puerto Rico

Hartford resident Carlos Hernández Chávez, 70, was already an accomplished artist and musician before coming here from Mexico City in 1967. Once in Hartford, he would present the keys of the city to music legend and fellow countryman Carlos Santana. Today, Chavez is retired but busy with a series of vibrant rainforest paintings that pay homage to a Puerto Rican community that has embraced him all along his journey.
