New Security as Enfield Schools Open

It was the first day of school at the Henry Barnard Elementary School in Enfield as the 347 students in the K-2 school returned to classes.  This is the first year that all Enfield schools will have armed guards posted.

Nancy Hayes, the principal of the Henry Barnard Elementary School, directs returning 2nd grade student Hector Medina the first day of school in Enfield Tuesday.  Looking on, at left, is the school's armed security guard, Kevin Hart, a 21 year veteran with the Hartford Police Dept. and now retired. This is the first year that armed guards have been stationed at all of Enfield's public schools.
