A Wild Finish in Wolf Pack Season Opener

In its first game of the post-Connecticut Whale era, the Hartford Wolf Pack was defeated by the Norfolk Admirals in their season opener at the XL Center in Hartford. The Admirals led 2-1 with seconds remaining in the third period until the Wolf Pack’s Darroll Powe scored a game-tying goal with 0.4 seconds left. The referee originally signaled that it didn’t count, but after reviewing the video he reversed himself and allowed the goal to stand. Neither team scored in the overtime period, but Norfolk defeated the Wolf pack 3-2 in a shoot-out.
