The 20th Annual Holiday Train Show at the Ct. River Museum in Essex is created by Steven Cryan, a local maritime and railroad artist and master model train builder. The 26’ long and 8’ wide layout has thousands of model vehicles, people and buildings in addition to twelve trains running at all times. Every inch of the complex model is intricately detailed with shops, restaurants, boats and wrecks. “I have been told that I have a wicked sense of humor, said Cryan and that is what brings people back year after year. Almost hidden are scenes including a bar/brothel called Cryan’s Bar & Grill and a dirty garbage truck stating, “Caution: this vehicle may be transporting political promises.”

- Promise (at left) and Putnam have become best friends and colleagues in their work at the Enfield police department where they work in the same Enfield K-9 Unit with Officer Brian Croteau. Promise, who is ten years old, will soon retire. Putnam, who is almost two years old, wil start training soon with Croteau. At that point, Promise will remain at home and Putnam will go to work as the drug-sniffing dog for the Enfield Police Department. PATRICK RAYCRAFT | email@example.com
