2013.12.01 – Hartford, CT – “Paula’s been wanting to do this for years,” says Jaime Gilbride (L) of her friend Paula Thompson (right). as the two decorate a tree inside the Wadsworth Atheneum’s Austin Gallery in front of a 1780 painting by Benjamin West named “The Raising of Lazarus.” For the past year, Thompson, who works at Olender’s Body Shop, has been collecting emblems from cars brought in for repair and now, for her first time, is providing a tree for the Wadsworth Atheneum’s Festival of Trees & Traditions. Running through December 14, this is the 40th year of the festival with approximately 155 Christmas items displayed across six Atheneum galleries. Photograph by Mark Mirko | mmirko@courant.com
