A Helping Hand

2015-08-06 - Hartford, Ct. - Saying later that she did not seem to be aware of the active fire scene, Hartford Police Department officer Vinnie Marfella helps a woman (who asked not to be identified) cross Franklin after she passed a police line and walked down a sidewalk adjacent to a burning building. Officer Marfella stopped her before she got too close to the three-story building housing residences, a bodega and a tailor. Firefighters were warned to stay away from the front of the building for fear of collapse. Photograph by Mark Mirko | mirko@courant.com
