Decriminalizing pot and opening the door to medical marijuana seems like the right thing. We’ve wasted millions of taxpayer dollars in a futile effort to block use of something that seems less harmful than alcohol.

I’m sure of it, just like I can’t think of anything more pointless than a small-time pot arrest.

And yet.

More.

I’m not ok with this, but it would explain some of the “journalism” that takes place at the Courant.

Thanks for pointing out that decriminalization is like buying the kids a bong and then acting all surprised when there’s bongwater on the carpet.

Ask the kids whether subsidizing dealers (who now operate with impunity) or legalizing it from approved vendors and collecting the taxes makes more sense.

I’m reminded of the whole Rave culture that grew up where pills became the drugs of choice for kids under 21 since alcohol was out and there was a need for easy to transport and easy to consume drugs that didn’t draw attention.

Rube Goldberg lives and is writing legislation today.

The prohibition of marijuana was implemented using racial bigotry, lies and propaganda with no scientific proof of harm and is being maintained in the same manner,,still no scientific proof of harms the justify locking people up for even though our government has spent billions of dollars searching for true harm.

NO prohibition has ever been successful since the beginning of mankind’s existence,,even God could not enforce prohibition and He only had 2 people to watch.
