My Donovan Flip-Flop: Where’s The Proof?
Because I don’t see the evidence.
I’m ready to believe Chris Donovan and the former U.S. attorney now vouching for him.
It now seems more than likely he really didn’t know anything about the wheeling and dealing his campaign staff was up to in the 5th District Congressional race when certain contributions were allegedly concealed in return for legislative favors. It’s more than possible – remember how Chris Shays’ former campaign manager ripped him off for years without his knowledge?
“There is no indication that he wasn’t telling the truth,” the former U.S. attorney, Stanley Twardy, told reporters Thursday morning. A monthlong probe headed up by Twardy found “no indication that he was involved in a quid pro quo arrangement or conduit contributions.”

If Donovan’s looking for a new campaign manager, Rihanna’s ex-accountant is looking for work.
Rick’s trying not to be mean
Of course Donovan’s clean
Courant singing a liberal song
What could possibly be wrong
What else should we expect from Rick Green
Hey Rick, read Kevin Daily’s Runctions for a few things you failed to take into consideration on the Twardy Report.
We still have the question as to why an AFSCME Treasurer would think Donovan’s campaign was open to graft and open for business.
If there were clear cut guidelines saying “NO” it would seem impossible that the treasurer of AFSCME Local 387 and AFL-CIO Western Connecticut Central Labor Council President Ray Soucy would be involved. Soucy is a Union Corrections Officer and Union Official? And he thought payoffs to Donovan were the order of the day?
OK. Soucy went crooked with the arrival of Braddock. That’s the ticket. Braddock the Svengali made him do it.
Too much smoke for me.
Rick, you “don’t see” the evidence, because the people who may possess it, have not shown it to you. We have only Twardy’s word that there is no evidence. But since he was hired by Donovan to say precisely that, neither you nor anyone else actually knows whether or not that evidence exists.
Honestly, I’m dismayed by your naivete and your willingness to just take Twardy’s word for everything. As I commented earlier, as an attorney hired by Donovan, Twardy is nothing more than a mercenary, saying what Donovan hired him to say.
I can’t fathom any rational reason a veteran reporter would dispense with his skepticism sufficiently to gulp up the laughable bilge Twardy spewed the other day.
It’s a shame you don’t buy the theory that Donovan is the one who tipped off the authorities and chose to take the bullet in the press rather than take credit for the arrest.
Ray Soucy has always considered himself “a player.” It is easy to picture him enticed by much smarter FBI agents playing to his ego. Those wanting to damn Donovan for Soucy & others misconduct need to indicate some actual evidence — which they cannot.
Let Donovan run on the issues, and the people of the 5th can decide. People would be well-served with Donovan as their Representative.
