The new USDA map, a favorite of gardeners everywhere, shows that the weather has grown a tad warmer (pay attention, Geoff Fox!) since the last map was prepared in 1990. The maps use climate data to predict expected variations in temperature.

3 Responses to Plant Hardiness: The New Map Is Finally Here

  1. Fellow Skeptic says:

What did the map look like from 1950 to 1976? Or from 1676-1705?

How about when the Connecticut River was formed by glaciers?

Anyone who thinks that we can determine that the planet is irrevocably changing based on 40 years of data or Al Gore’s hockey stick probably has a fallout shelter in his or her basement.

The climate is always changing and there’s nothing we can do about it.

The USDA has done a great job to provide detailed, more interactive maps. Long overdue!

You made some good points there. I did a search on the subject and found most people will go along with with your website.
